Blackjack

One of the most popular games in the world, Blackjack is always running at Cheers Poker Room & Casino, located at 286 North Broadway in Salem, New Hampshire. Like all table games in New Hampshire, the maximum bet allowed is $4 per hand. Due to this limit, allowable bets are either $2 or $4 at Cheers Poker Room & Casino. Blackjacks pay 3 to 2 and the dealer must hit on soft 17.

How to Play

At Blackjack, players are dealt 2 cards face up while the dealer is given one card face down and one card face up. Players are trying to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. Aces are worth 1 or 11 while all face cards are worth 10. Players goes around the table clockwise and either “hit” or “stay”. “Stay” means the player keeps their cards and does not take any additional cards. “Hit” means the player will receive an additional card until they decide to “stay” or go over 21. Players have the option to split their cards if their first two cards are of the same value. Splitting requires the player to match their initial bet. If the player continues to receive cards of the same value they can split multiple times up to a maximum of 4 hands. Another bet is called the “double down”. After a player receives their first two cards they can double their bet, but they will only receive one additional card. Players also have the option to “surrender”. Surrendering means you are giving up your hand, but can take back half of your bet. This action is only allowed when you have your two initial cards and have not “hit” for additional cards. After the players have finished their actions the dealer will turn over his other card and then “hits” until either they have between 17 and 21, or go over 21 in which all remaining players will win.

If there are open spots at the table, players may play up to two hands at a time.

Bonus Bets

“Match the Dealer” is a bonus bet offered in which players are betting that one of their cards will match the dealers initial card that is face up.
